1:30–2:15 Building True Wealth: The Evolution of Socially Responsible Investing from Wall Street to Main Street, Stuart Valentine
-
First stage: Recognition that our investment dollars are highly
creative and dominantly shovelled into Wall Street channels where
personal values and mission are expressly removed from the
investment goals.Second Stage: Awareness that there is a highly developed alternative
marketplace informed by models like The Natural Step and the UN
Principles of Responsible Investment where values and mission are
back in the drivers seat and shareholder activism works to reform
capital markets to include the Common Good as well as profit. Here I
will illustrate case studies and investment models that allow for
this more Triple Bottom Line approach to the investment process.Third Stage: The rise of the Conscious Investor where personal
Dharma and Destiny Path become the primary design parameters for
development of a True Wealth Portfolio – where spiritual calling and
the best practices of Socially Responsible Investing come together.Stuart Valentine is a Fairfield resident, green entrepreneur, MUM Business faculty, and respected mentor. His business Centerpoint Investment Strategies (http://www.centerpointinvesting.com/) is a Sponsor of EcoFairfield. -

2:30–315 EcoPyschology: Healing Relationships with Inner & Outer Nature, Phoenix Jordan
Eco” is from the Greek word “oikos” meaning house or home. Psychology literally means “the study of the soul, breath, spirit”. Ecopsychology, whose true roots go back to ancient times, is emerging as a gathering place, an umbrella for many people working in areas aiming to heal our relationship with “nature”, both other than human and our own, inner and outer. If we are to heal and reunite our world, we must first be reunited with our own nature. We must reclaim our existential sensitivity, our felt orientation and communion with life. Sustainability, wilderness therapy, contemplative practices, Deep Ecology, systems theory, vision quests, Jungian dream analysis, biocentrism, gardening practices, phenomenology, environmental education, eco-feminism, shamanism, humanistic psychology, radical ecology, and many other terms have been associated with Ecopsychology. With such an expanse of terrain, how can it be considered a field at all? In Ecopsychology, there is much to learn and the leading edge of our theory is going to be the leading edge of our experience. Phoenix Jordan lives in Fairfield, Iowa. A life-long performing artist and filmmaker, Phoenix graduated from MUM in 2010 with a Sustainable Living degree. Ms. Jordan was hit by a car on her bicycle
sustaining a brain injury from which she is currently recovering. This life-altering event continues to provide deep and transformative opportunities to learn”….what it is to be human, working with a human brain and body to recreate oneself as a healthy interface with the natural world within and around us. This is Ecopsych, and the opportunity that waits for us all.”
